Women

"In childhood a woman must be subject to her father; in youth, to her husband; when her husband is dead, to her sons. A woman must never be free of subjugation."

— Code of Manu

Edmund Burke, who said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" also said, "Women are less than animals." How could someone have such irreconcilable beliefs? People are products of their society, and though they may see the truth of some things, they almost invariably succumb to prejudices and popularly held delusions. This explains why women have been considered to be like animals, property, or like slaves, for a very long time. Marriage has traditionally been a master-slave relationship.

To this day, society is having a hard time acknowledging women's true equality with men.

A quick look at the treatment of women throughout time and in nearly all cultures reveals that there has been a war waged against women.

Women have been abused, exploited, beaten down, denied their rights, denied opportunities, denied just compensation, and excluded from positions of power and authority in the world, for ages. Many men, especially the more religious ones, justify this as being somehow "right." The major religions uphold the underlying belief that women, in all ways, are less than men. The Ten Commandments lists women as just another kind of property belonging to a man; this is why the father gives the bride to the husband — as if he were passing along property — in marriage ceremonies to this day.

As early as the first few centuries after Jesus, the Roman theologian Tertullian declared about women, "The judgment of God upon your sex endures even today; and with it inevitably endures your position of criminal at the bar of justice. You are the gateway to the devil." The religionists decide who it is righteous to oppress and destroy. Oh, but it's in the Bible, so it must be true. Sure. In fact, there is the same proportion of spiritually Good and evil beings in both sexes.

It was assumed, for thousands of years, that women could not and should not think for themselves. Men thought that was just fine, even for those they loved.

Women were not allowed to vote in the US until the 1900s, until they led a massive protest, similar to the civil rights movement.

Yet unquestioned programming is so pervasive that for the first seventy years in which they had the right to vote, women deferred, letting their husbands cast their votes for them. In other words, they did not vote their own minds or their own conscience. Women have not been allowed, until only recently, to have a mind of their own, to think for themselves, to make decisions for themselves, to control their own finances, or to have any say in religion.    read more ...
