A Way of Being
"And if you want to be free, be free,
Cause there's a million things to be.
Well if you want to say yes, say yes,
And if you want to no, say no,
Cause there's a million ways to go.
And if you find a new way, you can do it today."
— Cat Stevens (If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out)
Sometimes our thinking is trapped within the confines of problems — we may get lost in our problems — and it is hard to find our Way. That is the very nature of problems. Although we may not be able to change, control, influence, or solve every problem we face, we can change how we relate to a given problem, and problems in general. In other words, we can change how we think of problems. We are free to solve them, let go of them, or get beyond them. We are free to find a Greater Reality, a larger context for seeing problems, and gain perspective.
When we cannot find our way, or cannot see beyond our problems, what is missing is: the Light. There is a Light which shines on our way; which reveals what is right, good, and true for us; which leads us in the direction of the Highest Good.
When you see what is right, do it; when you see what is wrong, refrain from doing it. Could it be more simple and true than that? Let the Light of conscience within you be your guide. You cannot take anything of the outer world as your measure of what is right. Wrong is often more common than right, especially if you look to other people for how you should think or behave. Just keep looking within you, and you will come closer to the Truth and the Light, step by step, little by little. Whenever you feel a bit more inner peace, or a bit less troubled, a bit surer of what you know to be right, a bit less troubled, a bit clearer about what you need to do, a bit stronger in doing what is right or rejecting what is wrong, a bit clearer, a bit brighter, that shows you are going in the right direction.
The Way is a path we can follow life, in accordance with the Light that shines on our path, and the choices we make to stay in that Light, to live in that Light. The Way is the path of truth, the acknowledgment, acceptance, and alignment with Truth, within us. The Way, our own way, is individual for each one of us; no two paths are the same. No two people have exactly the same level of awareness or consciousness, the same understanding, the same perceptions, the same purpose, or the same path to follow. No one is exactly where you are, in your shoes, needing to take the next step that you need to take. No one. No one can tell you how to step, when to step, if you should step, or why you should step. No one. If you relied upon anyone — and that means anyone — to do that for you, you could not even walk. So, how can you do your spiritual walk that way. You can not. You have to, sooner or later, come to the realization that your Way is within you. You have to find what is right, good, and true, within you, for your self, and choose it at each and every moment. That is how you find your Way.
What is important is the Way you live — based upon what is in your heart. Not the extent to which you have memorized a book. Not the way in which you hold yourself all good and holy, and label everyone else who is not of your way of thinking, wrong. That is just spiritual egotism, not the way of Spirit. read more ...
